Living Our Word in 2025

Category: Senior Living

Author: Dan Shields, Executive Director

Choosing a “Word of the Year” is more than just a fun tradition—it’s a powerful tool for focus and growth at The Wildwood Senior Living. A single word can guide decisions, inspire action, and unite teams around a shared purpose. By reflecting on the word selected for the year, we gain insight into how it influenced our culture, strengthened connections, and supported meaningful experiences for residents and staff alike. This end of year review allows us to celebrate successes, learn from challenges, and set the stage for continued progress in the year ahead.

Elevating Systems and Operations

Our guiding word for the year was Elevate, and we fully embraced its intention. We strengthened technology workflows across the community to support daily operations. Teams streamlined processes through the Arrow App, improved issue tracking with Zendesk work orders, and reinforced quality and compliance through consistent use of TELS, PCC, cart audits, and medication audits. Together, these improvements elevated efficiency, communication, and overall performance.

Our Culinary team also elevated the dining experience. To-go meals transitioned to real plates and silverware, paired with stainless steel sauce cups for a more refined presentation. Prospective residents received thoughtfully arranged tour trays that reflected our commitment to quality and hospitality.

We also revitalized the Ambassador Program by updating resident name tags and introducing monthly, structured meetings. These changes strengthened engagement and improved consistency across the program.

Measurable Impact and Lasting Momentum

These collective improvements made a measurable difference. Wildwood earned outstanding satisfaction scores from both residents and team members, reflecting the success of our shared focus on elevation.

In the spirit of our Word of the Year, we carry forward a timeless reminder: “Good, better, best. Never let it rest until your good is better and your better is best.” This sentiment reflects who we strive to be and how we will continue elevating every aspect of our community.

As we look back on the impact of our Word of the Year at The Wildwood Senior Living, it’s clear this simple concept can spark meaningful change. It has guided our priorities, strengthened our sense of community, and reminded us of the values that matter most. By reviewing the actions and outcomes connected to this word, we not only celebrate what we’ve accomplished but also identify opportunities for continued growth. Let’s carry these lessons forward as we prepare for the year ahead—because one word can truly make a difference when we live it every day.
