Empowering Aging with Tech

Category: Technology and Safety

Author: Becky Jacobs, Resident Services Director

Today’s Older Adults Are Embracing Technology

When people think about older adults and technology, outdated ideas still persist—like the belief that they are unwilling or unable to use it. However, that narrative is changing. Many older adults are not only open to technology, but they actively seek tools that make life easier, more connected, and more enjoyable.

Technology use among older adults continues to grow. For instance, a 2024 national AARP survey found that 66 percent of respondents said technology enriches their lives. It helps them manage daily tasks and build meaningful connections. From video calls to health-tracking apps, older adults are learning the digital language of convenience. As a result, they expect their living environments to keep up.

The Arrow App Keeps Residents Informed and Engaged

At The Wildwood Senior Living, staying connected means more than offering Internet access. It means providing practical, easy-to-use tools that support daily living. One of the most impactful tools is the Arrow App. With just a few taps, residents can view daily menus, check event schedules, stay updated on announcements, access wellness content, and message staff directly.

The Arrow App has made a positive difference in our community. It helps residents stay informed about events, dining, and updates without needing to leave their apartment. Additionally, residents appreciate being able to submit maintenance requests through the app, which often results in faster service and less reliance on in-person interactions.

Families Stay in the Loop, Too

Families benefit from the Arrow App as well. They enjoy seeing what meals their loved ones are eating and which events they attend. This insight often leads to more engaging conversations and greater peace of mind.

Looking ahead, we know technology will play an even bigger role. As future residents enter senior living, they will bring higher expectations for digital tools. Fortunately, by building smart systems today, we are well-positioned to meet those demands with confidence and care.

The Arrow App is more than a convenience—it is a promise. It reflects our commitment to communication, empowerment, and connection. With technology as a partner, the future of senior living is not only bright—it is fully connected.
